1. Messing with MECHatronics, presented by Cambrian College

Get hands-on with the world of mechatronics! In this interactive workshop, students will learn about mechanical, electrical, and computer-controlled systems. Whether you’re interested in robots, automation, electronics, mechanics, or simply figuring out how things work, Messing with MECHatronics gives you a chance to get your hands on tech and see mechatronics in action. No experience required. Bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment!

2. Festival Hair Lab: Braids, Tinsel & Creative Hair Design presented by Beauty & Lively Co

Join Jennifer Cooper, owner of Beauty & Lively Co. and Northern Dream Weaves®️, for a fun and interactive introduction to the creative world of hairstyling! In this hands-on workshop, students will discover how hairstyling combines creativity, technical skill, and entrepreneurship while exploring the many career opportunities within the beauty industry. Participants will learn easy festival-inspired techniques, including bubble braids, hair tinsel, colourful extensions, and decorative accessories, before designing their own unique festival hair look. Hairstyling is so much more than cutting and colouring hair, it’s a skilled trade that blends creativity, artistry, technical expertise, and entrepreneurship. Whether your dream is to work behind the chair, specialize in extensions, become an educator, own a business, work in fashion or film, or create content online, the beauty industry offers endless opportunities to build a career doing what you love. Join us to discover where your creativity could take you while creating your own festival inspired hairstyle!

3. Gamified Career Exploration with ChatterHigh!

Prepare your Grade 8 students for high school in our interactive workshop on career exploration, aligned with Ontario's Creating Pathways to Success framework. Discover how to support your students' Individual Pathways Plans (IPPs) and sign your class up for ChatterHigh, a completely free resource. Using this gamified platform, students will begin researching educational and career options to make confident high school course choices. As they explore, they will earn points for an exciting draw prize and gain micro-credential certificates to start building their resumes. Finally, learn to use the educator dashboard to easily track progress and quiz results, generating valuable data for your classroom assessments and reporting.

4A. A.I. in Space presented by Science North **IMPORTANT** This workshop will only be offered once in English / French

Prepare your students for a future driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Through learning about Canada's role as a leader in autonomous space robotics, students will be introduced to real-world applications of AI. They will use AI to complete challenges, learn its capabilities and limitations and discuss the ethical implications of AI in space and on Earth.

4B. What is a Concussion? presented by Science North **IMPORTANT** This workshop will only be offered once in English / French

What happens to a human brain when it is concussed? Students will manipulate a preserved brain to learn the effects of concussions. They will also try out concussion-simulation goggles and test helmet materials using an egg drop experiment.

1. Labo de coiffure de festival : tresses, mèches scintillantes et coiffures créatives, présenté par Beauty & Lively Co. – **Activité bilingue**

Joignez-vous à Jennifer Cooper, propriétaire de Beauty & Lively Co. et de Northern Dream Weaves®️, pour une initiation amusante et interactive à l’univers créatif de la coiffure! Dans le cadre de cet atelier pratique, les élèves découvriront comment la coiffure allie créativité, savoir-faire technique et entrepreneuriat, tout en explorant les nombreuses possibilités de carrière offertes par l’industrie de la beauté. Les participantes apprendront des techniques simples inspirées des festivals, notamment les tresses à bulles, la pose de mèches scintillantes et de rallonges colorées ainsi que l’ajout d’accessoires décoratifs, avant de créer leur propre coiffure de festival. La coiffure, c’est bien plus que la coupe et la coloration des cheveux : c’est un métier spécialisé qui conjugue créativité, sens artistique, expertise technique et entrepreneuriat. Que vous rêviez de travailler en salon, de vous spécialiser dans les rallonges capillaires, de devenir formatrice, de lancer votre propre entreprise, de travailler dans le milieu de la mode ou du cinéma, ou encore de créer du contenu en ligne, l’industrie de la beauté offre une multitude de possibilités pour bâtir une carrière qui vous passionne. Venez découvrir jusqu’où votre créativité peut vous mener en réalisant votre propre coiffure inspirée des festivals!

2. Exploration de carrière ludifiée avec ChatterHigh!

Préparez vos élèves de 8e année pour l'école secondaire avec notre atelier sur l'exploration de carrière, aligné au programme ontarien Tracer son itinéraire vers la réussite. Découvrez comment appuyer leurs plans d'itinéraire d'études (PIE) et inscrivez votre classe sur ChatterHigh, une ressource entièrement gratuite. Sur cette plateforme ludifiée, les élèves découvriront leurs options afin de faire des choix de cours éclairés. En explorant, ils accumuleront des points pour un tirage au sort et obtiendront des certificats de micro certification pour enrichir leur CV. De plus, le tableau de bord d'enseignant vous permettra de suivre facilement leurs progrès et résultats, générant ainsi des données utiles pour vos évaluations en classe.

3A: L’IA dans l’espace présenté par Science Nord – ** Activité bilingue**

Préparez vos élèves à un avenir façonné par l’intelligence artificielle (IA) et l’apprentissage automatique. En découvrant le rôle de chef de file du Canada dans le domaine de la robotique spatiale autonome, les élèves se familiariseront avec des applications concrètes de l’IA. Elles utiliseront l’IA pour relever différents défis, en exploreront les possibilités et les limites, et discuteront des enjeux éthiques liés à son utilisation dans l’espace et sur Terre.

3B: Qu’est-ce qu’une commotion cérébrale? présenté par Science Nord – ** Activité bilingue**
Important : Cet atelier ne sera offert qu’une seule fois, en format bilingue (anglais et français)

Que se passe-t-il dans le cerveau humain lorsqu’une personne subit une commotion cérébrale? Les élèves manipuleront un cerveau préservé afin de mieux comprendre les effets d’une commotion cérébrale. Elles feront également l’essai de lunettes qui en simulent les effets et testeront différents matériaux utilisés dans la fabrication de casques au moyen d’une expérience de chute d’œuf.

4: Atelier du Collège Boréal

Les élèves concevront et fabriqueront une petite décoration suspendue en mettant à profit leur créativité et leurs compétences de base en menuiserie afin de réaliser un projet unique fait à la main.

1. Build a Coat Hanger, presented by TPH Plumbing & Heating
This year TPH will be running a hands-on workshop where participants will have the opportunity to create their very own custom coat hanger using copper piping (1 per student). Students will learn basic soldering techniques as they cut, assemble, and solder together multiple pieces of copper pipe to form a functional and stylish coat hanger.

2. LED Greeting Cards, presented by the Canadian Science & Technology Museum
This workshop blends art and STEM by introducing participants to basic circuitry in a creative way. Using glue-on LEDs, they’ll design and build their own greeting card that lights up, learning how simple circuits work as they create. It’s a fun, hands-on activity that combines electronics with artistic design for a truly unique project.

3. Your Voice is Power, presented by Logics Academy **Only offered in English**
Combine music and coding for an unforgettable learning experience! Students will mix hip-hop beats with Python coding, discover talented Indigenous Hip-Hop artists, and explore social justice themes through music and technology.

4. Bricklayers for a Day, presented by Integrity Masonry **Only offered in English**

Participants will have an exciting opportunity to step into the shoes of a mason through a fun, hands-on bricklaying experience. After watching a live demonstration, participants will try their hand at laying bricks to the line. While waiting for their turn, they will decorate a brick to take home as a unique keepsake and a lasting reminder of the exciting opportunities available in the skilled trades.

5. Cement Finishing Simulation, presented by LiUNA
Learn about LiUNA, who they are, and the important role they play in the construction industry. Then, try your hand at laying a sidewalk through a hands-on cement finishing simulation, where you'll learn the basics of concrete placement, curing, and finishing techniques.

Atelier de simulation de finition de ciment, présenté par LiUNA

Découvrez LiUNA et le rôle important que joue ce syndicat dans l’industrie de la construction. Mettez ensuite vos compétences à l’épreuve en réalisant une simulation pratique de finition d’un trottoir en béton, qui vous permettra de vous familiariser avec les techniques de mise en place, de cure et de finition du béton.OTTAWA : Veuillez sélectionner deux (2) ateliers en tant que premiers choix, AINSI qu’un deuxième et un troisième choix supplémentaires. *REMARQUE : chaque atelier est limité à un maximum de 15 élèves.

Fabrication d’un cintre - Présenté par TPH Plumbing & Heating

Cette année, TPH propose un atelier pratique où les participantes auront l’occasion de fabriquer son propre cintre personnalisé à partir de tuyaux en cuivre (1 par élève). Elles apprendront les techniques de base du soudage en coupant, assemblant et soudant plusieurs morceaux pour former un cintre fonctionnel et élégant.

Cartes de vœux lumineuses à DEL – Présenté par le Musée des sciences et de la technologie du Canada

Un atelier où l’art rencontre les STIM! Les participantes découvriront les circuits électriques de base d’une façon originale et créative. À l’aide de DEL autocollantes, elles concevront et fabriqueront leur propre carte de vœux lumineuse, tout en explorant le fonctionnement des circuits simples. Cette activité pratique et ludique combine l’électronique et le design artistique pour donner vie à un projet unique.

Atelier Robots marcheurs, présenté par Compétences Ontario

Préparez-vous à donner vie à l’ingénierie! Dans cet atelier pratique, les élèves construiront leur propre robot marcheur et découvriront le plaisir de voir leur création prendre vie sous leurs yeux. Une activité amusante et stimulante, idéale pour éveiller la curiosité des jeunes ingénieurs en herbe.

HIEC Career Labs
Le Labo de carrières de l'Ontario du HIEC suscite l'enthousiasme des étudiants pour leur avenir en les aidant à découvrir des métiers qui correspondent à leurs centres d'intérêt, leurs points forts et leurs compétences. Les étudiants explorent différents parcours professionnels et apprennent ce qu'il faut pour y parvenir en échangeant avec des experts du secteur lors de tables rondes interactives. Ces échanges leur permettent de poser des questions, d'écouter des témoignages concrets et de découvrir de Nouvelles possibilités.

1: Auto Confidence Workshop presented by AutoCate

In this workshop, students will build automotive safety knowledge and confidence through hands-on learning with portable automotive components, tools, and educational materials. Participants will explore topics such as tire safety, filters and fluids, wiper maintenance, battery boosting, and basic vehicle safety practices while gaining exposure to automotive and skilled trades careers. Using interactive demonstrations and visual aids, the workshop provides practical, real-world knowledge in an engaging indoor setting.

2: Build a Birdhouse Workshop presented by Community Builders

Join us for a fun, hands-on Build a Birdhouse workshop! Guided by Community Builders’ skilled team and using pre-cut wooden pieces, participants will learn how to safely assemble and finish their own birdhouse using a combination of hand and power tools. No previous construction experience is required.

3: Creating an Embossed Bracelet, presented by Georgian College

Participants will exploration some basic jewellery techniques used in the making of an embossed bracelet. They will engage in embossing designs onto a length of metal with a variety of punches and hammers. They will also file the ends of the bracelets and bend them to fit their wrists. Students will have completed one finished embossed bracelet by the end of the workshop.
